To enhance traffic safety awareness among new immigrants, the Yunlin Service Center of the NIA Southern District Corps collaborated with the Yunlin Motor Vehicles Office to hold a traffic safety awareness event. The event targeted new immigrants applying for residence permits and provided information on scooter training subsidies, inspection and license plate regulations for light electric scooters, and on-site consultation services to help new immigrants understand local traffic laws and ensure road safety together.

The Yunlin Service Center also hosts regular family education classes every month. This time, it partnered with the Yunlin New Immigrant Family Service Center to organize an "Aromatherapy Stress Relief DIY Workshop." Through aromatherapy and communication skill courses, the event aimed to help new immigrant families enhance interaction, relieve stress, and build a happy home life.

Yunlin County is a sparsely populated area where scooters are a primary means of commuting for many new immigrants. In addition to the Ministry of Transportation's NT$1,300 scooter training subsidy, the county government provides an additional NT$1,300, with no age limit for applicants aged 18 or above. As a result, trainees only need to pay around NT$400 to NT$600 out of pocket to complete the training. The event also reminded new immigrants and migrant workers without a license that if they use light electric scooters for commuting, they must undergo inspection and registration to operate legally.
A new immigrant, Ms. Hsiao-Ju, shared that she originally thought only the central government offered subsidies. She was pleasantly surprised to learn about the additional local subsidy and said she would sign up for training as soon as possible to ensure safer transportation for her children.
Mr. Huang Chung-Chieh, Director of the Yunlin Service Center, stated that according to statistics, those who complete scooter training courses reduce their risk of violations by 59% and traffic accidents by 36%, proving that training improves road safety. He also thanked the Yunlin Motor Vehicles Office for dispatching personnel regularly since April 2025 to provide ongoing education and consultation services for new immigrants.
Mr. Huang further reminded new immigrants to be cautious, as they may not be familiar with local laws or language. He warned them to be wary of individuals who exploit &ldquofellow countryman&rdquo ties to borrow bank accounts or ask for help with money transfers, which could be linked to scams. If uncertain, they are encouraged to call the 165 anti-fraud hotline for assistance and to protect their financial safety.
