To promote cultural exchange and integration between new residents, their families, and local citizens, the Nantou County Service Station of the National Immigration Agency’s Central Affairs Brigade, in cooperation with the Nantou County New Residents Family Service Center, organized the "Colorful Culture, Increasingly Wonderful" multicultural integration event. The event invited Vietnamese multicultural instructor Ding Shi Rang to share insights on family management and to lead interactive experiences through conical hat painting and DIY Vietnamese pour-over coffee, allowing participants to delve into the cultural significance of Vietnam.

Instructor Ding Shi Rang explained that Vietnam is the world’s second-largest coffee exporter, and coffee shops are ubiquitous in Vietnam, with coffee considered an essential part of daily life. Vietnamese coffee is not a specific type of coffee bean; rather, it refers to a unique preparation and consumption method in Vietnam. The iconic drip coffee involves placing ground coffee in a Vietnamese drip filter, allowing it to slowly drip into a cup. When mixed with condensed milk, the sweetness of the milk and the bitterness of the coffee create a distinctive Vietnamese flavor. Another essential item in Vietnamese daily life is the conical hat. Worn by people of all ages and genders, the conical hat serves as protection from the sun and rain and is a cherished accessory akin to the traditional Ao Dai attire.

After learning about the cultural significance of Vietnamese coffee and conical hats, Instructor Ding Shi Rang led participants in the second half of the event to experience DIY Vietnamese pour-over coffee firsthand and to creatively paint their own unique conical hats. The event’s lively atmosphere not only alleviated homesickness for new residents but also left a memorable cultural experience for the families of new residents and the public.
Nantou County Service Station Director Lin Hong-zhi stated that this multicultural integration event allowed participants to experience authentic Vietnamese culture without the need to travel abroad. Through cultural experiences like this, the National Immigration Agency hopes to increase the public's understanding of diverse cultural meanings and to strengthen interaction and communication among new resident families and the public.
