To strengthen exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and Canadian in the field of bilingual education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei (CTOT) recently co-organized an information session. After the meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and CTOT jointly announced the "Bilingual education cooperation joint declaration", demonstrating Taiwan and Canada's determination to establish a bilateral bilingual partnership in related fields.

Xu You Dian (徐佑典), head of MOFA's North American Affairs Department., said that he was pleased to see both Canada and Taiwan show mutual interests in deepening bilateral cooperation in bilingual education. Taiwan and Canada both share values of democracy, freedom, human rights, and the rule of law. As a bilingual country, Canada is one of our best partners to promote the “2030 Bilingual National Policy”; "Bilingual education cooperation joint declaration" is the first stride forward towards a steady corporation relationship between us.

Jordan Reeves (芮喬丹), Executive Director of the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei and Li Yan Yi (李彥儀), Department of International and Cross-strait Education attended the meeting as well. Representatives of educational institutions in Canada Ontario, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia shared the content of the dual education system. For Taiwan, government officials from 12 cities and counties around Taiwan including Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Taichung City, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Keelung City, Hsinchu City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Changhua County and Pingtung City, and staff from more than 10 Taiwanese high schools have actively participated online with outstanding results.
