The Covid-19 pandemic forces people to learn everything online, whether it is work, school or shopping and the National Immigration Agency (NIA, 移民署) actively helps new immigrants to adapt smoothly. The "New Residents Digital Application Information Project" invites new residents and their families to join the "New Residents Digital Information website“ and continues to implement the "Continuing Plan for the New Residents' Broadband Internet Access" to help new residents face the epidemic.

The second benefit is, the " New Residents Digital Application Information Project" provides 16 physical information courses for new residents to sign up for free. To make learning easy, the concept of "delivering courses to your doorstep" in remote villages and towns has launched the "mobile learning vehicle" project to open mobile classrooms in remote towns. New residents who want to sign up for physical information courses, please call the direct line for more information.

The third benefit for new residents is, they may call the service line or complete the application at the department's 25 service stations, then they can borrow home-delivered tablets and enjoy the unlimited monthly 4G internet service. The low-income households, low-to-middle-income households, or new residents with handicapped members in the family, will be prioritized to enjoy these services.

Lin Chen-chi (林振智), director of the New Taipei City Service Station (新北市服務站), said that the epidemic has led to digital transformation. To enable new immigrants to adapt to the digital era, the NIA will continue to create a digital learning environment for new residents by providing mobile information sharing and free Internet services. Aside from creating a digital learning environment for the new immigrants and encouraging them to register in the “New Residents Digital Information website”, they can get a variety of digital courses for free.
