The COVID-19 epidemic continues to spread, and many industries are deeply affected. The Construction and Planning Agency of the Ministry of the Interior (內政部營建署) has relaxed the system to benefit renters. Housing subsidies are open to "rent subsidies", "interest subsidies for self-purchased housing loan" and "interest subsidies for housing renovation loan". In 2021, there is a grading system for rent subsidies, with a maximum of NT$8,000 per month. These three types of applications will be accepted until August 31.

The Construction and Planning Agency states that only one of the three conditions, "rent subsidies", "interest subsidies for self-purchased housing loan" or "interest subsidies for housing repair loan" can be applied for. No matter which kind of subsidy is applied for, a copy of the applicant’s ID card or household registration should be attached. If the applicant and the spouse have different household registrations, the household registrations of both must be attached. If family members (spouse, immediate family members in household registration) are foreigners, people from mainland China, residents of Hong Kong or Macau, they should attach a certificate of entry and exit records and a residence permit.

The government offers the above diversified housing assistance, to help citizens live in suitable housing.
