President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文總統) attended the "2021 Teachers’ Award, Educational Dedication Award, and Senior Excellent Teacher Recognition Conference" (2021年師鐸獎、教育奉獻獎及資深優良教師表揚大會), thanking each teacher for their dedication and efforts, for children to discover their potential, to cultivate professional abilities, and to realize their dreams. The President also thanked the teachers for their assistance in epidemic prevention in schools, acting as an important guardian of the children and the heroes behind the epidemic prevention in Taiwan.

The Ministry of Education (MOE, 教育部) announced the winners of the 2021 Teachers' Awards (2021年師鐸獎). A total of 72 winners were selected. According to the education levels, there are 32 elementary schools, 12 junior high schools, 16 high school vocational schools, 2 special education, and 10 colleges and universities. Also awarded was Professor Chang Kuo-En (張國恩) of the Graduate Institute of Information and Computer Education of National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU, 臺灣師範大學資訊教育研究所). Professor Chang who has been involved in education for more than 30 years, won the highest honorary teacher award in education.

President Tsai Ing-wen said that although each teacher who won the award comes from a different education level and field, they are all whole-heartedly dedicated to the students. During the epidemic, many teachers learned the new skills of live broadcasting, video recording, and uploading for online teaching. Also, for the smooth opening of classes, they worked overtime to disinfect and set up partitions to provide children with a safer learning environment. Everyone is an important guardian of children, and heroes behind epidemic prevention in Taiwan.

In addition, the President pointed out that education is a great undertaking, and she thanked all teachers for their efforts and dedication, so that children can discover their potential, cultivate professional abilities, and realize their dreams. Finally, the President congratulated all the winners again and wished all teachers a happy Teacher’s Day.
