Taichung Police offers identifiable license plates for foreign workers

Many foreign workers rely on electric bicycles as a transport mode in Taiwan. Most of the electric bicycles are not licensed. If related public security incidents arise, more resources and time is needed.   

The Taichung City Police Department Fengyuan Branch offers identifiable license plates for foreign workers. The identifiable license plate includes four codes, representing the sub-bureaus, police station, company, and workers. 

In the future, if the bicycle is stolen or there are any other incidents, the code will be helpful for the police to conduct further investigation.

Currently, many people have applied for license plates, including 28 factories 1,115 foreign workers.

Taichung City Police Department Fengyuan Branch Sub-director Wu Ming-yuan(吳銘淵) says, the police department designed the identifiable license plates to make it easier to search for the stolen electric bicycles. Ａfter the stolen electric bicycles are found, it will be convenient for owners to claim them.

With identifiable license plates, it can be easier to find the stolen electric bicycles. But at the same time, foreign workers would also have to follow the traffic rules while driving. Major manufacturers in the district all showed support to the police for launching the identifiable license plates.
