New immigrant from the Czech Republic joins "Mountain Rescue Operations", Luo Peide warns: “Don't go to the valley when you get lost”

Mountain climber, Petr Novotny (Luo Peide, 羅培德), a new immigrant from Czech Republic, has recently been actively involved in mountain rescue operations. In mid-September, he heard about a man in his thirties riding an off-road motorcycle and disappeared after climbing Kao Tai Mountain in Chien Shi Township, Hsinchu County. With his principle to be "the earliest to go up the mountain, and the last to come down", he helped with the search mission, and the rescue personnel were moved by his touching action. Recently, a mountaineering team composed of 17 members from New Taipei City climbed Baigu Mountain in Nantou County. One member of the group got lost. After losing contact, Luo Peide voluntarily joined the search and rescue team. Fortunately, the missing hiker was found in the deep valley creek, and he said, "If you get lost, never go down to the stream or the valley."

Previously, "Taiwan Immigrants’Global News Network" reported that Petr Novotny from the Czech Republic had come to Taiwan to stay as dependent relative for 5 years already. Therefore, the Nantou County Service Station of the Central District Affairs Brigade of the National Immigration Agency (NIA, 移民署中區事務大隊南投縣服務站) issued Petr a permanent residence permit on March 2. Petr came to Taiwan to study as an exchange student many years ago. He met his wife Eva Lobo (羅勃依婉), and since then established his bond with Taiwan. The couple love the mountains and forests of Taiwan and jointly founded the "Beast Runners" website to organize cross-country running races, sharing experiences to promote the beauty of Taiwan's mountains and forests.

Lo Peide’s wife, Eva Lobo (羅勃依婉), said that they both love nature and often hold mountain and forest activities. She is 100% supportive of her husband Lo Peide’s involvement in mountain rescue operations. He goes to the mountains at 5:00am everyday with only a few pieces of equipment and returned to the mountain trail entrance after nightfall. He even slept in the car for 3 days without taking a shower. During that time, he monitored the trail on the GPS map and the journey was difficult. So, “if people say that Taiwan is beautiful because of its people, Luo Peide is more worthy of praise”.
