Taichung has delivered impressive tourism results. According to the Taichung City Government, the city's tourist attractions welcomed 147.19 million visits last year, the highest in Taiwan. Agoda also selected Taichung as one of Asia's nine best-value destinations for accommodation, making it the only Taiwanese city on the list.
Taichung also recorded more than 9.29 million overnight stays last year, ranking second nationwide. Strong growth in both visitor numbers and accommodation demand highlights the city's growing appeal as one of Taiwan's leading travel destinations.
The tourism boom has also been reflected in aviation. International routes serving Taichung have expanded from three to 31 in recent years, with airlines continuing to evaluate additional destinations, supporting further tourism growth.
The city has continued to strengthen its tourism appeal through major events and new attractions. Signature festivals and landmark developments are expected to attract more visitors and enhance Taichung's competitiveness as a travel destination.
Taichung now offers more than 24,000 guest rooms, the second highest among Taiwan's six special municipalities. The city has also received the central government's highest rating for accommodation management for three consecutive years, reflecting continued improvements in service quality and tourism capacity.
