To help unemployed individuals reorganize their career paths in the new year, the Taichung City Government Labor Affairs Bureau announced that it will launch the first phase of its job training program starting in March. A total of 15 training courses and approximately 450 training slots will be offered, integrating skills development, job matching services, and related subsidies to assist participants in transitioning smoothly into employment or entrepreneurship after short-term intensive training.
The Labor Affairs Bureau stated that the 2026 job training program is divided into six categories with a total of 30 courses. The first phase responds to industry trends and labor market needs, including digital-oriented courses such as artificial intelligence and data applications, AI multimedia commercial design, AI-based social media marketing and e-commerce practices, and cloud-based AI applications for administrative staff. Additional courses include home cleaning and organization, activity design instruction for senior citizens, postpartum care services, and practical training in healthy baking and coffee beverage preparation, helping individuals from different backgrounds develop immediately applicable professional skills.
Each course lasts approximately two months and is held on weekdays from Monday to Friday during the daytime. According to the bureau, the proportion of trainees who enter employment or start businesses after completing the program has consistently remained above 80 percent, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness in improving employment stability. One participant, Xiaoping, who previously worked in the food service industry, shifted to the postpartum care field due to family caregiving needs. Through systematic professional training, she acquired skills in postpartum conditioning, nutrition planning, newborn care, and hands-on techniques, successfully securing service cases after graduation and gradually building a strong reputation while continuing further training and certification.
The bureau added that middle-aged, older individuals, and other designated groups can attend the job training programs free of charge and may apply for vocational training living allowances based on eligibility, reducing financial pressure during the training period and allowing participants to focus on skill development. Unemployed individuals with job-seeking intentions are encouraged to seize this opportunity and create more possibilities for their future careers.
