  Pingtung integrates subsidies and loans to support women in entrepreneurship and reentering the workforce

  As more women pursue entrepreneurship and return to the workforce, demand for support resources and clear application methods continues to grow. The Labor and Youth Development Department of Pingtung County Government has recently integrated entrepreneurship training, loan programs, and subsidy measures to provide a comprehensive support system. These include guidance on entrepreneurship loans and a work equipment subsidy of up to NTD 2,000, helping reduce initial financial pressure and providing a clearer foundation for planning.The training programs focus on practical application, covering market operations and product management while incorporating local case studies. Participants are guided on how to transform personal experiences into viable products or services. For those without prior experience, these courses help accelerate understanding, reduce repeated trial-and-error costs, and turn business ideas into actionable plans, while also strengthening their ability to assess market demand.In addition to structured courses, networking sessions are arranged to allow participants to discuss business ideas and career plans with instructors and peers. Through these exchanges, participants can better understand available resources and their own conditions. Clear explanations of loan and subsidy systems also help clarify funding sources and expense planning, reducing uncertainty and increasing the likelihood of taking real action.Starting from May, digital learning courses and industry field visits will continue to be offered, along with one-on-one entrepreneurship consulting services. These aim to help participants refine their business models and market strategies while strengthening practical capabilities.   62 pesticide violations found in Taipei produce inspections, higher counts in chili peppers and spinach

  The Taipei Market Administration Office announced the results of pesticide residue inspections on produce at wholesale markets. A total of 900 items were tested in March, with 838 meeting regulations and 62 failing inspection. All non-compliant products were intercepted before auction and destroyed, totaling 8,172 kilograms, ensuring they did not enter the market while maintaining overall control mechanisms.Among the inspected items, chili peppers, peas, and spinach had relatively higher numbers of violations and are listed as key monitoring targets. Any product that fails inspection is immediately removed from trading, and the supply source is temporarily suspended from auctioning similar items on the same day. Sales can only resume after reinspection confirms compliance. If the product fails again, it is directly discarded to prevent circulation.Wholesale markets currently implement daily inspections. All produce entering the market must pass pesticide residue testing before being approved for auction. This front-end screening process effectively blocks non-compliant products at the earliest stage, while increasing inspection frequency for high-risk categories to enhance precision and interception efficiency.Additionally, inspection results are reported to agricultural authorities for follow-up and improvement of non-compliant supply sources. Local governments assist in strengthening pesticide management, gradually building a layered control system from production areas to wholesale markets, adding further protection for daily food safety.

  Nantou Hakka Carnival opens April 18, linking Tung Blossom Festival and music events

  Spring events in Nantou are gradually unfolding, with the “2026 Nantou Hakka Carnival” scheduled to open on April 18. The program integrates flower viewing, music, and performing arts, extending from spring into summer, allowing visitors to plan trips at different times while combining tourism with cultural experiences to form a continuous activity route.The series begins with the Tung Blossom Festival from April to May, integrating resources from Guoxing Township, Zhongliao Township, Nantou City, and Shuili Township. Multiple hiking and forest experience routes are introduced, including Bagua Mountain trails as well as itineraries in Shuili and Zhongliao, combined with guided tours and local storytelling to help participants better understand Hakka settlements and cultural features during flower viewing.A key highlight is the “Hakka Blue” picnic concert on May 16, held at Zhongxing New Village Family Park. The event combines live music performances, markets, and outdoor picnic formats, and includes interactive games, DIY experiences, and lucky draws. A NT$499 picnic package is also available, including a foldable shopping cart, market vouchers, and a variety of local snacks, offering convenient participation options.Subsequent activities extend into summer. The Hakka singing competition will take place on June 13 at the Nantou County Cultural Affairs Bureau, with individual and group categories, and registration open until May 22 at 17:00. In mid-July, children’s theater groups will present interactive Hakka-language performances, combined with markets and craft activities.
