In response to Taiwan entering a super-aged society, the Taichung City Government Labor Bureau continues to strengthen employment services for seniors. In addition to existing Senior Talent Service Centers at the Eastern District Labor Service Center and Fengyuan Yangming Municipal Building&mdashwhich support reemployment for individuals aged 55 and above or retirees&mdashthe city will open a third center in the coastal region this year (2025), expanding its service coverage.Mountain-area Senior Talent Service Center provides career planning for older job seekers. Labor Bureau Director Lin Shu-yuan stated that Mayor Lu Shiow-Yen places great importance on employment rights for middle-aged and senior citizens. At each service center, professional employment consultants provide customized &ldquoone-stop&rdquo services, including job matching, career counseling, employment promotion courses, and business collaboration. These services help older job seekers overcome challenges such as career transitions, interview techniques, and workplace communication&mdashrebuilding their confidence to rejoin the workforce.Eastern District Senior Talent Service Center: Intergenerational Workplace Communication and Employment Promotion Course (Image / Screenshot from Taichung City Government website)Eastern District Senior Talent Service Center: Intergenerational Workplace Communication and Employment Promotion Course (Image / Screenshot from Taichung City Government website)

Ms. Lin, age 66, participated in an experiential recruitment event held by the center last year and was hired as a part-time kitchen assistant at a chain restaurant. Initially, she had difficulty communicating with her supervisors and colleagues. After follow-up support from her employment counselor, she enrolled in an &ldquointergenerational communication&rdquo course and learned how to interact across age groups. She found the experience extremely beneficial.

Mr. Li, age 71, joined a career planning course at the mountain-region service center. He gained insight into employment trends, available resources, and incentive programs for older adults. With guidance from his employment consultant, he developed a job-seeking strategy and regained motivation to return to work.

This year, the Labor Bureau also launched an upgraded program titled **&ldquoFive-Star Senior Employment Plus &ndash Full Power Mode&rdquo**, which integrates 18 employment support measures. These cover five key areas: **action power, preparation power, matching power, adaptation power, and sustainability power**. Services include career consultation, resume clinics, workplace experiences, 3C (computer, communication, consumer electronics) technology courses, and continued employment programs&mdashoffering a comprehensive support system for senior job seekers.

The Taichung City Employment Services Office added that the senior service centers regularly host diverse courses. Additionally, &ldquoSenior Employment Fixed-Site Job Fairs&rdquo are held on the **third Wednesday of each month** at the Eastern District Labor Service Center and the **fourth Wednesday** at the Fengyuan Yangming Municipal Building. Age-friendly companies are invited to provide suitable job openings for older adults. Seniors interested in rejoining the workforce are encouraged to participate.
