With the rising trend of "electric luggage," many travelers have adopted it as a mobility tool for convenience, but it has also raised safety concerns. In anticipation of the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday and travel rush, Taoyuan International Airport Corporation recently announced new regulations banning the use of bicycles, scooters, electric luggage, and skateboards within the terminal. These items must now be either towed or transported using luggage carts.
According to ETtoday News, Taiwan’s Civil Aeronautics Administration held a coordination meeting in December 2024 with Taoyuan Airport Corporation and relevant authorities to discuss terminal order and safety. It was ultimately decided to prohibit the aforementioned high-speed mobility devices within terminal premises. The airport emphasized that this rule aims to maintain safety and order while preventing accidents. However, if no violations or complaints occur, on-site personnel will provide situational guidance as needed.
On January 3, Taoyuan Airport Corporation announced the new regulations on its official Facebook page, sparking heated online discussions. Many expressed support: “MRT should follow suit,” “Pedestrian walkways are not racetracks!” and “Clear rules ensure safety.”The Taoyuan International Airport Corporation recently announced a ban on the use of bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and similar vehicles within the terminal, including electric luggage. The airport also reminded travelers to check relevant safety guidelines before departure and comply with the regulations to avoid fines or travel disruptions. With the Lunar New Year approaching, travelers carrying such mobility devices are urged to follow the rules by towing or using luggage carts to ensure a smooth and safe journey.
