On the morning of February 14, Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng attended the "2025 Lupine Flower Season Kickoff Press Conference" at the City Government’s Comprehensive Conference Hall. He announced that this year’s flower season will expand in scale, increasing the planting area from 10 hectares to 12 hectares and incorporating the surroundings of the Taiwan Hakka Tea Culture Hall to create an even more spectacular golden sea of flowers.
New Tourism Branding: "Little Dragon Year, Big Dragon Gate Adventure"
The Taoyuan City Government has also launched the "Little Dragon Year, Big Dragon Gate Adventure" tourism brand, featuring five themed parks and six specialty tour routes in Longtan District. In addition to flower viewing, visitors can participate in tea ceremonies, Lei Cha (pounded tea) making, and Hakka rice food workshops, immersing themselves in the Hakka tea village experience.

Mayor Chang emphasized that the Lupine Flower Season is an important floral festival in Longtan District, combining hilly landscapes with the charm of tea villages, showcasing the scenic beauty of Taoyuan’s mountains and waters. The Hakka literary master Zhong Zhao-zheng portrayed the lupine flower as a symbol of Hakka culture in his classic novel "Lupine Flower." Taoyuan’s lupine flowers are mainly found in Dabeikeng and Sanqiaoshui, attracting a large number of visitors. Hakka Affairs Bureau Highlights Longtan's Unique Hakka Tea Culture
The Hakka Affairs Bureau noted that Dabeikeng in Longtan was the first region in Taiwan to cultivate lupine flowers and remains a major tea-producing area. The region boasts numerous tourist attractions and Hakka culinary delights. Six Themed Lupine Flower Tours for In-Depth Cultural Exploration
Additionally, the city government has planned six themed tours, including:

- Tea Culture Hall Guided Tour
- Tea Factory Exploration
The initiative collaborates with local revitalization teams to introduce special experiences, such as:
- Hakka tea farmer’s lunchbox
- Plant hammer-dyeing Ping'an knot workshops
These activities allow visitors to deeply explore the charm of Taoyuan’s Hakka villages.
