As the new COVID-19 variant Omicron continues to spread in Taiwan, National Immigration Agency (NIA) has been promoting the “Carefree Covid-19 Vaccination Program” to encourage foreign nationals, including undocumented migrant workers and overstayers to receive free vaccination. The program adopts four principles, “won’t be reported”, “won’t be seized”, “won’t be charged for any fee”, “won’t be banned” and it will last until January 31, 2022.

Penghu County Service Center & Penghu Brigade promote the "Carefree Covid-19 Vaccination Program" through activities held for new immigrants and various channels, hoping to spread the message by word of mouth.

Recently, a temporary consultation counter was set up at the Public Health Center of Magong (澎湖縣馬公市第一衛生所) and interpreters are serving at the site to explain the precautions and relevant information in their native languages. Ah Cheng (nickname), a migrant worker who got vaccinated said that he felt very relieved after being vaccinated, and he also thanked NIA for their assistance.

Li Yong Cheng (李永盛), the commander of the Penghu Brigade, mentioned that the Carefree Covid-19 Vaccination Program will last until January 31, and foreign nationals are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

In addition, those who are "undocumented" can also get a UI No. with assistance from NIA. Therefore, they can obtain proof of being vaccinated which can be used when returning to their home country.
