Chanel's latest release at the Watches and Wonders fair in Geneva, the “Kiss Me” watch, appears at first glance to be a luxurious lipstick-adorned with yellow beryl and a golden chain. But with a click, it reveals a hidden watch face. Part of the brand’s “secret watch” capsule collection, it also includes “Protect Me,” an amulet-shaped pendant inspired by Coco Chanel’s kohl-rimmed eye, and “Give Me Luck,” a Byzantine-style talisman featuring pink tourmalines. These designs highlight wearable versatility and personal expression, transforming timepieces into stylish accessories.

Beyond Chanel, several top luxury brands are also moving beyond traditional watch design. Van Cleef & Arpels reimagined its classic Cadenas watch with diamonds in a bracelet-like form. Cartier introduced bold new pieces, including the Panthère open bangle watch and the minimalistic Tank à Guichets, which displays time through two small windows instead of a traditional dial. These innovative styles liberate watches from the wrist, turning them into necklaces, brooches, or rings — blending function with fashion and artistry.Hermès transformed its anchor chain motif into a sculptural jewel with a hidden watch. This trend of time-as-jewelry extends to more accessible creations as well. Dior released pendant versions of its Gem Dior watch, featuring malachite and aragonite, while Hermès transformed its iconic anchor chain into a diamond-studded brooch watch that can be pinned to a sleeve or worn as a pendant. These unique timepieces not only redefine how we wear time but also celebrate nostalgic charm with a contemporary twist — fusing jewelry and horology in perfect harmony.
