CECC confirms 44 more COVID-19 cases, including 5 domestic cases and 39 imported cases

According to Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), there are 44 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of those 44 cases, 5 are domestic and 39 are imported. The CECC announced no death today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are 3 men and 2 women, aged between around 10 years old and around 30 years old.

Regarding the 39 new imported cases, they are 24 men and 15 women, aged between around 10 to 70 years old. 6 of them are from the United States and the Philippines each, 4 from Hong Kong, 3 from Vietnam, 2 from Netherlands and Thailand each, and 1 from Cambodia, Nigeria, Turkey, Brazil, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Germany, Japan, Korea, United Kingdom and Canada each.

The remaining 4 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between December 20, 2021, to February 21, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 6,192,221 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 6,171,834. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 20,100 cases. Of the 20,100 confirmed cases, 4,654 are imported; 15,392 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection.

The command center once again appeals to the public that one should keep hands clean, wear a mask, reduce unnecessary travel, activities, or gatherings, avoid entering and leaving crowded places, or areas with high risk of infection transmission, and take the initiative to follow various regulations and stop the potential spread of the highly contagious variant within the community
