For travelers planning spring and summer trips, Nantou is again launching night tourism activities this year. The 2026 Nantou Stargazing Season will start in late April and continue through September. Four themed event days will connect mountain areas, forest recreation zones, and popular destinations, combining stargazing, ecology, local culture, and specialty markets.
The first event is scheduled for April 25 in Dongpu, Xinyi Township. Later events will move to Xitou, Qingjing, and Nantou City. In addition to the themed events, each location will also offer guided stargazing, tea experiences, eco tours, and sunrise-chasing programs. Visitors can arrange one-day trips, weekend getaways, or overnight stays with flexible schedules.
This year also introduces a "Stargazing Passport" stamp collection activity. Participants joining each themed event can enter prize drawings, and attending more events increases the chance of winning. Prizes include astronomical telescopes and other gifts. During Qixi Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival, limited programs such as matchmaking themes and moon-viewing picnics will also be launched.
Event sites will also feature specialty markets offering local farm products, creative goods, and lodging information. Professional teams will provide telescope viewing and sky guides. Some places will reserve spots first for overnight guests to encourage deeper travel experiences. With events spanning spring and summer, Nantou's night tourism is expected to gain further momentum.
