Labor Department Commissioner Kao Pao-Hua stated that as early as 2001 and 2002, Taipei had already published the first and second volumes of the "Taipei City Sign Language Interpretation Training Materials," which were later revised in 2007 and 2010. Since September 2023, all training material files have been fully uploaded to the official website for free download. To promote equal participation in society for individuals with hearing and speech disabilities, the Labor Department continues to provide relevant communication services, aligning with the National Languages Development Act, which respects multiculturalism and language heritage.
Director Chen Kun-Hung of the Workforce Development Agency further explained that to enhance sign language interpretation service capacity, a Class B sign language interpretation training program was launched in 2023. The course covers nine major fields: education, law, healthcare, social welfare, labor policies, transportation, arts and culture, mass media, and sports competitions, using short texts, dialogue exercises, and vocabulary training. In 2024, practical experts were invited to systematize and compile the training materials into an e-book, improving accessibility and convenience for learners. The Reconstruction Office launched the Class B sign language interpretation training program in 2023.
