The New Taipei City Tourism Bureau has announced the exciting details of the 2025 Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival. Mayor Hou You-Yi and event ambassador Lee Da-Hui unveiled the plans for this grand celebration, which will take place on February 8th (Saturday) at Pingxi Junior High School and on February 12th (Lantern Festival) at Shifen Square. With the theme "Golden Snake Brings Prosperity," the event invites everyone to gather under the sky lanterns to make heartfelt wishes.
Year of the Snake Theme and Innovative Performances
To celebrate the Lunar Year of the Snake, this year's festival features a snake-themed main lantern. A highlight of the event is the first-ever combination of sky lantern releases and a light projection show titled "Fortune Snake Arrives." This mesmerizing spectacle will debut on February 8th at Pingxi Junior High School. Additionally, 60 exchange students from 16 countries will form the "International Sky Lantern Pioneer Team," symbolizing blessings for world peace.

Romantic Double-Heart Main Lantern
On February 12th, Shifen Square will showcase the "Double-Heart Main Lantern," where two snake-shaped sky lanterns will ascend into the sky, forming a romantic double-heart design. This ties in with the upcoming Valentine's Day, offering participants love and blessings.

Blessing Activities and DIY Experiences
Starting today, the official website launches the "Pingxi Sky Lantern X Continuous Blessing" activity, inviting participants to write their wishes on virtual sky lanterns for the world. During the event, the media wall at Jingtong Sky Lantern Museum will display wishes from across the globe, uniting hearts worldwide. Visitors can also join the "699 Experience Tour" to explore hidden gems such as Jingtong's Japanese dormitories, Guanyin Rock Trail, and Wanggu Waterfall, with guided tours and engaging DIY workshops.
Limited-Edition Food and Eco-Friendly Activities
Special treats include the "Sky Lantern Festival Limited Railway Bento" and "Hsu Zhang Bento," available in limited quantities daily. The New Taipei City Tourism Bureau has partnered with the New Taipei Mountaineering Association to host a mountain-cleaning event on February 16th, promoting ecological awareness and sustainable living under the guidance of seasoned mountaineers.
