Q: How long is the validity period of the Employment Gold Card?
A: The validity period of the Employment Gold Card is issued based on the validity of the work permit approved by the Ministry of Labor, ranging from 1 to 3 years. If you are concerned that your Employment Gold Card is about to expire or become invalid, you can confirm with the National Immigration Agency.
Q: My Employment Gold Card is about to expire. Will I receive a notification?
A: For all foreign nationals whose stay or residence (including the Employment Gold Card) is about to expire, the National Immigration Agency service stations will send a notification approximately one month before the expiration. However, this notification is only sent as a paper document to the registered residence address. If the registered address is incorrect, you will not receive the notification. Employment Gold Card holders who wish to change their residence address must update it on the Foreign Professional Talent Application Platform.
Q: What is the difference between reapplying for and extending the Employment Gold Card?
A: If you apply again after your Gold Card has expired or if you were applying for a second Gold Card before October 25, 2021, it is considered a "reapplication" (displayed as "Employment Gold Card Application" on the application platform). The start date of the second Gold Card will be the date your second application is approved.
If you apply for a second Employment Gold Card within four months before your current card expires, but not earlier than that, or if you applied on or after October 25, 2021, it is considered a "renewal application" (displayed as "Employment Gold Card Extension Application" on the platform). The start date of the second Gold Card will immediately follow the expiration date of the first card. For example, if your first Gold Card expires on November 25, the second Gold Card will start on November 25.
Please note that although reapplication and renewal applications require the same documents, they have different online application buttons. Both require you to continue meeting the eligibility conditions that you previously qualified under. If you are applying under different conditions, you must meet the new eligibility requirements.
If you encounter any issues while applying for a renewal or reapplication, you can refer to the Renewal Application Guide and Reapplication Guide.
