To help Taiwanese youth broaden their international perspectives and explore overseas career opportunities, the Overseas Community Affairs Council continues to promote the Taiwan Youth Overseas Program. In 2026, the program will officially expand its language tracks, adding French, Japanese, and Korean for the first time. The initiative is no longer limited to English, enabling youth with diverse language skills to engage in more practice-oriented international exchanges in corresponding linguistic and cultural environments.

According to the council, the 2026 program will include seven overseas destinations, with participants selected by language track. The English track will visit Chicago in the United States and Melbourne in Australia; the French track will go to Paris, France; the Japanese track to Tokyo, Japan; the Korean track to Seoul, South Korea; and the New Southbound track to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Each itinerary will incorporate visits to enterprises, public institutions, and overseas Taiwanese communities, allowing participants to gain deeper insights into local industries and workplaces.

Each language track has specific proficiency requirements, including certifications in English, French, Japanese, or Korean. The New Southbound track also requires English proficiency. The council emphasized that language is not only a communication tool, but also a key foundation for understanding local culture, industry structures, and career development.

The program is open to Taiwanese citizens aged 18 to 30 who are currently enrolled in domestic universities or colleges. Subsidies for airfare and visas, as well as full overseas accommodation and logistics support, are provided to lower participation barriers. Through on-site observation and exchange, the program aims to help youth clarify future directions and accumulate international experience.
