To enhance legal awareness and promote the safety of women, children, and families among new immigrant communities, the Chiayi City Police Bureau will hold a "Gender Violence Prevention Course for New Immigrants" and a "Junior Police Parent-Child Experience Camp" this August. Through educational sessions and interactive family activities, the programs aim to help new immigrant families better understand Taiwan's laws, reporting mechanisms, and protection resources while strengthening self-protection awareness and encouraging people to seek help when needed.
The "Gender Violence Prevention Course for New Immigrants" will be held on the morning of August 15 and is open to 20 new immigrants and their children. The program includes sessions on preventing sexual assault and domestic violence, as well as a hands-on wooden piggy bank workshop titled "Protecting Families through Woodcraft," combining legal education with family interaction.
The "Junior Police Parent-Child Experience Camp" will take place on the morning of August 16 and is open to 15 new immigrant families or families with a new immigrant spouse. Children will wear junior police uniforms and participate in four interactive activities, including experiencing special police equipment, learning traffic safety through police motorcycles, anti-drug and anti-fraud education, women and children's safety awareness, and an introduction to police uniforms from different countries, allowing children to learn important safety knowledge through hands-on experiences.
The Chiayi City Police Bureau said registration for both activities is now open and places are limited. Eligible new immigrant families are encouraged to register early and enjoy educational activities that strengthen family safety awareness while promoting parent-child interaction and closer community engagement.
