Amid high-pressure work environments, maintaining health is increasingly important. Taiwan's Health Promotion Administration, in collaboration with the John Tung Foundation, has launched the “2026 Quit & Win Campaign.” This year, the prize has been increased to NT$80,000, with a new category specifically for police personnel.

Participants must register in pairs, consisting of one smoker and one non-smoking witness. Those who abstain from all tobacco products for four consecutive weeks, from May 2 to May 29, will qualify for the prize draw. Eight teams will win NT$80,000, with two additional prizes reserved for police participants.

The benefits of quitting smoking are significant, from heart rate recovery within 20 minutes to improved circulation and lung function within weeks, and a reduced risk of stroke over time.

Currently, nearly 3,000 contracted medical institutions across Taiwan provide smoking cessation services. People can also access support through hotlines or mobile apps. With both institutional support and daily practice, quitting smoking becomes a sustained, supported process rather than relying solely on personal willpower.
