According to The Manila Times, there were 8,767 cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) reported in the country on April 22, bringing the caseload to 971,049, the Department of Health (DoH) reported.
Of the total, 107,988 were tagged as “active cases”, with 97.9 percent mild or asymptomatic.
The number of survivors is at 17,138, raising the total number of recoveries at 846,691.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the high number of daily recoveries can be attributed to the fact that updates are time-based and have been included in the daily count on April 19.

Previously, the agency released the time-based recovery count every Sunday.
The death toll climbed to 16,370, including 105 fatalities tallied on April 20.
The Philippines ranked second in terms of new coronavirus infections in Southeast Asia, behind Indonesia, which has 1.6 million cases, according to the latest Johns Hopkins University new coronavirus tracker update.
The coronavirus cases worldwide have reached 143.8 million, including three million deaths, the case tracker added.
