On September 21, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced five new confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. All those cases are imported, and they are from Vietnam, the US, South Africa, Eswatini, and Russia. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the five new imported cases, they are three men and two women, aged between 20 to 59 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from Vietnam, the US, South Africa, Eswatini, and Russia. They arrived between September 7 and September 10.

The CECC reported that a total of 3,173,829 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 3,156,928. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,152 cases. Of the 16,152 confirmed cases, 1,520 are imported; 14,578 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 840 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 840 deaths, 829 are from domestic cases and the other 11 are from imported cases.
