Triglycerides are fats stored in fat cells or adipose tissue. They come from the calories in the food we eat and serve as the body's energy reserves when its primary source, glucose, is depleted.Lemak trans adalah lemak terhidrogenasi yang terdapat dalam beberapa makanan kemasan dan makanan goreng.

High-fat intake can impair the immune system and brain function. Consuming certain foods can cause triglyceride levels to rise, clogging blood vessels and triggering cardiovascular diseases. According to Verywell Health and Healthline, here are some foods that lead to high triglycerides:

  1. **Saturated Fats**: Found in fried foods, red meat, chicken skin, egg yolks, high-fat dairy products, butter, lard, margarine, and fast food. Individuals with high triglycerides should consume low-fat products such as skinless chicken breasts, fish, beans, seeds, and olive oil.

  2. **Trans Fats**: These are hydrogenated fats found in some packaged and fried foods. Natural trans fats can be found in small amounts in beef, goat, and dairy products like milk or cheese. The food industry can also produce artificial trans fats by adding hydrogen to vegetable oil. It’s important to note that the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Indonesian Ministry of Health have called for the elimination or banning of trans fats due to their significant risk of heart attacks, leading to approximately 500,000 deaths from coronary heart disease worldwide annually.
