To enhance healthcare and safety for new residents, the New Taipei City Service Center of the National Immigration Agency (NIA) held the &ldquoNew Resident Care Network Conference&rdquo on June 11. The event brought together more than 40 local public and private organizations and collaborated with the New Taipei City Health Bureau to promote Long-Term Care 2.0 services and dementia prevention resources. The meeting introduced the application process, care assessments, and case management services, as well as practical resources such as neighborhood care stations, day care centers, and integrated dementia clinics to support families with elderly care needs. The event also included advocacy on fraud prevention, gender equality, and legal awareness to help participants better understand social support systems. Center Director Lin Tsai-jung stated that they will continue to integrate interagency resources through network meetings to create a warm and friendly care environment for new residents.
Taipei Youth Department Launches Call for Entries to Support Gen Z Entrepreneurship
The second &ldquoGen Z Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition&rdquo is now open for entries until July 8. Hosted by the Taipei City Government Youth Department, the competition offers a total prize pool of NT$2.08 million and is open to youth aged 18 to 30 to register in teams. Divided into two categories &mdash &ldquoValidation Group&rdquo and &ldquoFundraising Group&rdquo &mdash the competition provides resources such as startup mentoring, field testing, crowdfunding support, and investor matching to help participants validate their ideas and bring them to market. Finalist teams can receive up to NT$150,000 in support funds, with a total of NT$700,000 in prizes awarded in the finals. The Youth Department emphasizes that this is more than just a competition &mdash it's a platform for startup incubation, encouraging young people to take action and launch their entrepreneurial journeys here.

FamilyMart Taiwan has teamed up with the Pearl S. Buck Foundation to transform its Nanhai Road store in Taipei into the first &ldquoMigrant-Friendly Convenience Store&rdquo in Taiwan. Operated under a franchise model, the initiative aims to provide stable employment opportunities for new immigrants. The store features multilingual tools, a cultural exhibition wall, and training cards. It is managed by a team led by a store manager with a social work background, helping staff adapt to the workplace culture. Team members come from countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Cambodia. New immigrants can join job experience programs and receive language and skills training. Taiwanese staff also participate in intercultural communication workshops to foster mutual understanding.
