To promote low-carbon travel as an everyday choice, Taiwan Railways has partnered with the Tourism Administration to further integrate sustainable accommodation with low-carbon transportation through its “Railway Travel, Low-Carbon Together” campaign. Starting January 1 this year, the program has expanded to include additional partner hotels holding Gold-level Green Mark certification, while the redemption period has been extended to March 1, encouraging travelers to embrace environmentally friendly travel by combining train journeys with sustainable lodging.

During the campaign period, passengers who travel on Taiwan Railways’ reserved-seat trains and stay at participating certified sustainable accommodations may redeem two Taiwan Railways bento vouchers or two lounge vouchers, each valued at NT$100, by presenting their train tickets and accommodation receipts. Redemptions are available while supplies last. By linking transportation and accommodation incentives, the program aims to make low-carbon choices more appealing and accessible to travelers.

Taiwan Railways stated that the inclusion of more Gold-level Green Mark hotels has diversified sustainable accommodation options nationwide. Extending the campaign period to cover the Lunar New Year travel season is expected to encourage travelers to slow down, explore Taiwan by rail, and experience tourism that connects scenic journeys with sustainability values. Further details and participating accommodation information are available on the Taiwan Railways website.
