CECC confirms 262 indigenous cases and 5 imported cases and reports 65 retroactively added cases

According to CECC, on June 1, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 267 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 267 new cases, 262 are indigenous and the other five are imported. Furthermore, the CECC reported 65 retroactively added cases; a total of 332 cases were recorded.

The CECC also announced 13 deaths on June 1.
The CECC pointed out that of the 262 indigenous cases, 136 are men and the other 126 are women ranging in ages from under 5 to 99 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms between May 20 and May 31, 2021. Of the 65 retroactively added cases, 31 are men and the other 34 are women ranging in ages from under 5 to 99 years old. They suffered the onset of symptoms between May 20 and May 30.

The CECC pointed out that a total of 327 indigenous cases, including 262 newly confirmed cases and 65 retroactively added cases, were reported today. Regarding those indigenous cases, New Taipei City reported most cases, at 166, and Taipei City had the second highest number, at 87. Taoyuan City reported 23 cases; Changhua County reported 12; Taichung City reported 10; Keelung City reported 8; Yilan County reported 5; Chiayi County reported 4; Hualien County and Taitung County reported 3 each; Miaoli County reported 2; Tainan City, Penghu County, Kaohsiung City and Hsinchu County reported 1 each.
Regarding the 13 deaths announced today, they were ten men and three women between 60 and 89 years old.
Regarding the five imported cases, three are men (Case #8766, Case #8767 and Case #8854), and two are women (Case #8856 and Case #8864). They all are Filipino nationals in their 20s.
Case #8766 and Case #8767 traveled to Taiwan for work on May 10. Case #8854 traveled to Taiwan for work on April 27. Case #8856 and Case #8864 came to Taiwan for work on May 11. They took self-paid COVID-19 tests, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on June 1.

The CECC reported that a total of 522,816 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 488,696. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,842 cases. Of the 8,842 confirmed cases, 1,142 are imported; 7,647 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated; and 22 cases (Case #530, Case #1589, Case #1676, Case #1591, Case #1886, Case #2067, Case #2068, Case #2528, Case #2530, Case #2599, Case #3549, Case #3921, Case #3975, Case #3989, Case #3990, Case #3991, Case #4059 and Case #4726, Case #5304, Case #5841, Case #7096 and Case #8343) have been removed (those case numbers are not assigned to any patients). Of the confirmed cases, there have been 124 deaths.
