Low-carbon travel continues to gain momentum in the tourism market. Taiwan High Speed Rail has partnered once again with the Tourism Administration to launch the 2026 “Sustainable Taiwan, Slow Travel” hotel and rail package. The program brings together more than 100 partner hotels nationwide, encouraging travelers to choose high-speed rail as their primary mode of transportation while enjoying environmentally friendly, high-quality journeys. The promotion runs through December 31 this year. Travelers who book accommodations through participating hotel websites can add discounted high-speed rail tickets, with fares starting at 22% off on weekdays and 15% off during weekends and peak travel periods.
In addition to fare discounts, the program incorporates membership incentives to promote low-carbon actions. During the campaign period, TGo members who stay at certified eco-label hotels and use the T-EX mobile ticketing app for digital ticketing and boarding will receive an additional 100 TGo points per ticket, supporting paperless travel and carbon reduction.
The package also features a curated selection of hotels and local experiences that integrate culture with sustainability. In northern Taiwan, travelers can stay at the Grand Hotel Taipei and explore its historic architecture; in central Taiwan, the Fleur de Chine Hotel offers eco-focused experiences and tea plantation tours; in southern Taiwan, travelers may choose the Hotel Cozzi Zhongshan Kaohsiung, enjoying locally sourced cuisine and urban nature attractions. Taiwan High Speed Rail stated that the initiative aims to encourage travelers to slow down and contribute to environmental sustainability through mindful transportation and accommodation choices.
