With the summer travel season and the Taiwan International Balloon Festival underway, the East Rift Valley National Scenic Area Headquarters of the Tourism Administration has officially opened the newly completed Longgao Trail in Luye, Taitung. Connecting Luye Highland and the Longtian landing field, the trail offers visitors a brand-new way to experience the region, with panoramic views of hot air balloons, paragliders, and the breathtaking East Rift Valley landscape.

Luye Highland is one of Taitung's most popular summer attractions and the main venue for the Taiwan International Balloon Festival. To enhance the visitor experience, the Longgao Trail was designed as an eco-friendly scenic walkway that blends into the natural terrain. Stretching approximately 700 meters with 802 steps, the trail also features viewing platforms where visitors can take in sweeping vistas of the Beinan River valley, the East Rift Valley mountain ranges, terraced landscapes, and picturesque farmland at their own pace.
The new trail provides an excellent vantage point for watching colorful hot air balloons gently rise into the sky and paragliders soar above Luye. During the balloon festival, visitors can enjoy these aerial displays from a unique perspective while capturing memorable photos of Taitung's iconic scenery. The spacious viewpoints also make the trail an ideal destination for sightseeing, photography, and leisurely walks.
Beyond its scenic appeal, Longgao Trail further connects Luye Highland with Longtian Village, encouraging travelers to explore the area's rural charm, cultural heritage, and local industries.
