As summer arrives, everyone knows that sunscreen is the first line of defense in skincare. But did you know? Choosing the right product is not enough. Every step - from skincare preparation before going out, timing and method of reapplication during the day, to cleansing and makeup removal after returning home - directly affects sunscreen effectiveness and skin stability. CeraVe invited dermatologist Dr. Tseng to remind everyone: "Sunscreen isn&rsquot just about applying it, but applying it at the right time and in the right way." He also shared sunscreen tips for before, during, and after to help you achieve full-day protection.

Before Sunscreen | Simplify Your Skincare

Since the skin's biological clock differs between daytime activity and nighttime repair, skincare routines should adjust accordingly. Before going out in the morning, simplify your routine with just cleansing, moisturizing, and sunscreen. Using too many products may interact with each other, burdening the skin and affecting sunscreen performance. The simpler, the better.Simplify your skincare before applying sunscreen (Photo / Provided by Toco Life Magazine)Simplify your skincare before applying sunscreen (Photo / Provided by Toco Life Magazine)

During Sun Exposure | Reapplying for Dry or Wet Skin

Many people forget to clean off sweat before reapplying sunscreen. Dr. Tseng recommends that if you notice sweat on your face, wipe it off with a wet tissue before reapplying sunscreen. Sweat contains ammonia and other secretions that nourish fungi and harmful microorganisms. Without cleaning it off first, reapplying sunscreen traps the sweat against the skin, potentially causing tinea versicolor or folliculitis.During sun exposure, reapplying sunscreen differs for dry and wet conditions (Photo / Provided by Toco Life Magazine)During sun exposure, reapplying sunscreen differs for dry and wet conditions (Photo / Provided by Toco Life Magazine)

After Sun Protection | Don&rsquot Leave Sunscreen Overnight

Multifunctional sunscreens with tint, foundation, or waterproof formulas need to be thoroughly removed every day to prevent residue that may trigger skin sensitivity.
