Retirement life doesn't have to be just staying at home or taking care of grandchildren. Increasingly, people over 55 are joining senior learning centers nationwide, participating in singing, exercise, and craft clubs, enriching daily life and meeting like-minded friends.

As Taiwan becomes a super-aged society, 368 senior learning centers now exist across towns and cities, offering courses and activities for middle-aged and older adults. Many participants continue learning for extended periods and form their own clubs for ongoing practice and socializing. Currently, there are over 900 senior clubs nationwide, where elders design their own activities.

For example, the Nantou Yuchi Senior Learning Demonstration Center offers dance, singing, aerobics, and percussion clubs. At Miaoli Yuanli, the saxophone, tai chi, and rush grass weaving clubs are very active. The weaving club integrates local culture, letting seniors relearn traditional crafts under artists' guidance, create daily items, and collaborate with schools to encourage intergenerational learning.

Participants share that joining clubs not only improves physical vitality but also lifts their spirits. With longer life expectancy, life after 55 can still be full of possibilities. Learning and club activities make retirement more vibrant. For course and activity information, visit the Ministry of Education Senior Learning Network: https://moe.senioredu.moe.gov.tw/
