The Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau launched the upgraded “Wild Fun Eastern Kaohsiung” travel program in May, featuring 20 tour sessions across six themed itineraries. For the first time, the program also introduces two overnight travel experiences, connecting mountain areas including Neimen, Liugui, Maolin, Taoyuan, Shanlin, Meinong, and Jiaxian.
According to the Tourism Bureau, this year's tours include themes such as “Mystery Rock Carving Exploration,” “Cloud Craftsmen,” “Mountain Town Art,” and “Maolin-Taoyuan Journey.” One featured itinerary takes visitors to Wanshan Tribe to explore the nationally designated Wanshan Rock Carvings, while another leads travelers into the 1,500-meter-high forests of Taoyuan to enjoy mountain tea and seasonal fruit-picking experiences.

Tourism Bureau Director Kao Min-lin said eastern Kaohsiung is known for its rich mountain landscapes and multicultural heritage, blending Hakka, Minnan, Indigenous, and new immigrant cultures. Through guided tours, hands-on workshops, and local agricultural experiences, visitors are encouraged to gain a deeper understanding of local life and community stories.
The newly launched overnight tours include visits to Longtoushan Trail, Duona Slate Village, and Baolai Hot Springs, while another itinerary combines Neimen folk performances, traditional banquet cuisine, and cultural experiences in Xiaolin Village. The tours aim to showcase eastern Kaohsiung's unique cultural, historical, and culinary charm.
The Tourism Bureau noted that all tours include shuttle transportation, with limited spots available for each session. Early registrants will also receive exclusive gifts. More information is available on the Kaohsiung Travel website.
