The Tourism Administration under Taiwan’s Ministry of Transportation and Communications recently announced the winners of the second Tourism Highlights Awards. To celebrate the honor, selected attractions across Taiwan have simultaneously launched limited-time promotions covering accommodation, dining, shopping, admission, experiential activities, and social media engagement. Through value-packed offers, the initiative aims to encourage the public to explore destinations nationwide toward the end of the year and stimulate domestic tourism momentum.

According to the Tourism Administration, the promotion includes opportunities to win travel packages valued at NT$16,000, as well as chances to win gold and the latest iPhone models through stamp-collecting activities. Travelers are encouraged to support local tourism highlights through hands-on participation and to discover the distinctive appeal of each destination.

In terms of admission and experience offers, many attractions are providing free entry or limited-time discounts. The National Museum of Natural Science announced that starting in 2026, its exhibition halls will be open for free every Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Meanwhile, the National Center for Traditional Arts Yilan Park launched a December-only promotion, allowing Yilan County residents free admission from Friday to Monday upon presentation of valid ID.

Special themed activities have also become major draws. The Alishan Forestry Railway and Cultural Park, in collaboration with six surrounding townships, introduced a spending-based lottery, where purchases of NT$499 or more qualify participants for a draw with chances to win high-value travel packages. Jingzaijiao Tile-Paved Salt Fields partnered with the Beimen Wangye Cultural Festival to launch a stamp rally, with prizes including gold and an iPhone 17. Qimei Island joined the “2025 Winter Travel Penghu” campaign, offering consumption vouchers, scratch-card activities, free access to ten major cultural venues in Penghu, and complimentary rides on Penghu’s themed sightseeing buses.

In addition, many tourism highlights have incorporated social media check-ins and local experiences to enhance visitor interaction. Examples include exchanging photo check-ins at Er Yanping Trail for drip coffee packets, receiving recycled keychains for check-ins at Turtle Island, enjoying coffee discounts at Chen Jing-Lan Western House by showing check-in posts, as well as local specialty offers in Kinmen such as complimentary drinks at liquor cellars, mullet roe grilling, and shrimp-catching experiences.

Shopping and accommodation deals are also part of the campaign. The Liudui Hakka Cultural Park is offering 20 percent discounts on cultural and creative products, while Wuling Farm has rolled out 10 percent discounts on farm produce alongside a “Maple Red and Plum Fragrance Three Days, Two Nights” package. Special accommodation or experience discounts are also available at Zengwen Reservoir Driftwood Violin Village and Moon Bay SUP activities at Sun Moon Lake.

The Tourism Administration stated that by linking tourism highlights with diverse promotions, it hopes travelers can plan their trips more flexibly and affordably while revitalizing local tourism and industries. Travelers are reminded that many offers are subject to time limits or quota restrictions and should check official websites or promotion platforms in advance for the latest details.
