Purchasing digital services through overseas e-commerce platforms has become increasingly common. The Taipei National Taxation Bureau of the Ministry of Finance reminds consumers that the email address provided during transactions is often used as the carrier for cloud invoices. If it is not properly managed, prize notifications may be missed.
By linking the email carrier used for overseas e-commerce purchases to a mobile barcode and completing the bank transfer setup before the lottery draw, any prize winnings can be automatically transferred to a designated bank account, avoiding the risk of missing the claim.
According to Article 7-1 of the Uniform Invoice Regulations, overseas e-commerce operators selling electronic services to individuals in Taiwan must issue cloud invoices and deliver them to consumers. In practice, many platforms use the email address entered during the transaction as the invoice carrier. Therefore, providing a correct and active email address is essential.
If consumers link their email carrier to a mobile barcode before the invoice lottery draw and set up a transfer account on the Ministry of Finance's e-Invoice Integration Service Platform, the system will automatically check the invoice after the draw. If the invoice wins, the prize money will be directly transferred to the designated bank account without requiring an additional claim process.
As cross-border digital service consumption continues to grow, simple settings can help ensure that invoices and potential prizes are not overlooked. Consumers purchasing digital services from overseas e-commerce platforms are advised to confirm that their email address is correct and to complete carrier linking and transfer settings as early as possible.
