The Tourism Administration recently announced the winners of the second “Top 100 Tourism Highlights” selection, with New Taipei City performing exceptionally well. Three attractions made the list: Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf and Tamkang Bridge, which won the “Best Domestic Tourism Innovation Award,” along with the Sandiaoling–Houtong century-old settlement and the New Taipei City Art Museum. Together, these selections showcase the city’s achievements in innovative infrastructure, cultural preservation, and tourism development.

New Taipei City Tourism Department Director Yang Tsung-min stated that Tamkang Bridge, spanning the Tamsui River estuary and connecting Tamsui and Bali, not only shortens travel time significantly but also forms a new coastal tourism corridor in northern Taiwan. The bridge’s elegant curves complement the seaside scenery of Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf, making it a new landmark that integrates transportation efficiency with tourism value.
According to the Tourism Department, once Tamkang Bridge opens to traffic, it will help ease weekend congestion in Tamsui, optimize visitor flow, and link Taoyuan Airport, Taipei Port, and Keelung Port to create a cross-regional “Airport–Tamsui–Port” tourism network. The city government also plans to coordinate with national policies to launch promotional campaigns that bundle accommodation, dining, and attraction discounts to attract both domestic and international visitors.
Each of the three selected attractions has unique features:
• Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf & Tamkang Bridge — recognized for engineering aesthetics and romantic waterfront views
• Sandiaoling–Houtong settlement — preserves mining and railway heritage with nostalgic character
• New Taipei City Art Museum — blends reed-inspired architectural design with natural riverside surroundings
The Tourism Department emphasized that New Taipei will continue integrating transportation development, digital guides, and festival events to build an international tourism identity for the city’s mountain-and-sea landscapes.
