Job recruitment posts on social media can conceal risks. After months of investigation, the Seventh Investigation Corps of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, working with prosecutors and local police, arrested 31 suspects between September 2025 and February 2026 in Taipei, New Taipei and Taichung, dismantling a gang-run fake investment ring.

The group placed Facebook ads posing as investment experts to lure victims into a LINE group called “Instant Success.” Members posted fabricated profits, persuaded victims to download a fake securities app and demanded transfers or face-to-face payments. Withdrawal requests were delayed, with victims pressured to invest more.

As account controls tightened, the syndicate shifted to in-person cash handovers and recruited couriers via Instagram, including elderly people, persons with disabilities and foreign nationals. Small ATM cardless deposits were used to simulate payouts. Losses reached NT$34.83 million. Police seized evidence and urged the public to call the 165 hotline if in doubt.
