Hsinchu City recently showcased its latest maternal and child care policies at the "Healthy Pregnancy, Happy Parenting" forum. Highlights included a monthly childcare subsidy increase of NT$1,000, eligible families receiving up to NT$8,000 per month, and the upgraded Pregnancy Support 2.0 program covering every stage from pregnancy planning to childcare.
The forum also reviewed the city's family support policies, bringing together representatives from maternal care, childcare and education to discuss pregnancy care, parenting support and childcare resources.
Since its launch in 2023, the Pregnancy Support program has benefited more than 3,400 people as of the end of April this year. The upgraded version now adds postpartum psychological counseling, maternity care packages, expanded eligibility for pregnancy transportation services, egg-freezing subsidies and pre-pregnancy health checks to provide broader support for families planning to have children.
To reduce childcare costs, Hsinchu City increased its monthly childcare subsidy by NT$1,000 this year through direct deposits without application. The city has also expanded childcare subsidies, matching services for postpartum caregivers, temporary childcare on nights and holidays, and public childcare resources.
Beyond financial assistance, Hsinchu City continues to expand preschool services for children aged 2 to 6 and integrate childcare, education and health resources, giving families more comprehensive support from pregnancy planning through child-rearing.
