The growing popularity of AI semiconductor and renewable energy investments has become a target for fraud syndicates. Taiwan's Criminal Investigation Bureau recently uncovered a fake investment scheme that used fraudulent websites promoting popular industries to lure victims, resulting in losses exceeding NT$30 million.

Investigators found that an engineer surnamed Pan worked with an overseas scam operation. He allegedly set up network relay systems in Taichung and connected to overseas virtual servers to create and maintain fake investment websites used to deceive investors.

The syndicate initially allowed victims to withdraw small profits to build trust and create the illusion of legitimate returns. Once victims invested larger amounts of money, they were unable to recover their funds.

Between September 2025 and March 2026, authorities arrested 15 suspects, including technical personnel, money-handling operators, and cash-out couriers. Mobile phones, computers, cash, and cryptocurrency assets were seized. The case has been referred to prosecutors for further legal proceedings.
