2025 World Masters Games Expo kicks off &mdash Five themed zones create a sports-tech carnival
The "World Masters Games Park and Expo" for the 2025 World Masters Games in Taipei and New Taipei officially launches today and runs until June 1 at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. The event opened with a stunning performance by the Lee Tang-Hua Acrobatics Troupe, blending acrobatics and percussion to showcase Taiwan's cultural charm.This expo features five major themed zones for the first time. In addition to event operations and athlete registration services, Warehouses 4 and 5 are open to the public for interactive experiences that combine sports, technology, and culture. Exhibits include AI health checks, heart analysis, digital Chinese medicine, and large-scale fitness installations and interactive walls. The main stage in Warehouse 5 will host over 50 performances, creating a vibrant summer sports carnival. From May 23 to 25, the "Taipei Street Art Carnival" will also take place, blending street art with sports in creative new ways.
Fulong Sand Sculpture Festival Opens with a Dreamy Twist &ndash Disney Characters Come to Life in Golden Sand
The 2025 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival will be grandly held from May 24 to September 30, in collaboration with the "Disney Midsummer Fun Festival" under the theme "High Fun All Season." Over 45 Disney-themed sand sculptures will be showcased, with classic characters like Mickey, Minnie, Stitch, and Donald Duck transformed into lifelike golden sculptures, creating magical fairy tale scenes for all ages to enjoy this summer.
This year also marks the 30th anniversary of Toy Story. The main sculpture will recreate the iconic Toy Story 3 poster in an 8-meter-tall masterpiece that will become a photo hotspot. Popular princesses and villains from Tangled, Moana 2, Frozen, and more will also make appearances, inviting the public to step into a world where fantasy meets creativity on the summer beach.
Average Internet Debut Age Drops to 7 &ndash Ministry of Education Launches Four Digital Protection Measures
With digital technology becoming more accessible, children and teens in Taiwan now spend an average of 3.96 hours online daily, with the age of first internet exposure dropping to 7.1 years. This indicates a growing dependency on digital devices. Without proper guidance, this may lead to internet addiction, cyberbullying, or privacy leaks, affecting mental health and parent-child relationships.To address these risks, the Ministry of Education has launched the &ldquoJoint Protection for the New Digital Generation&rdquo program in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Affairs, NCC, and telecom providers. The initiative focuses on four key strategies: (1) providing free toolkits to help parents manage online content and usage time (2) enhancing parents&rsquo digital literacy and parenting skills (3) promoting family communication resources in schools (4) working with iWIN and major telecom stores to offer device-setting support. The Ministry emphasizes that only through joint efforts from families, schools, and the government can children grow up safely and healthily in the digital world.
