Bringing a reusable container when buying takeaway food or drinks can now lead to instant savings. Chiayi City has launched the “Bring Your Own Container Easy Buy • Sustainable Chiayi Lifestyle” campaign, partnering with over 100 stores to combine daily consumption with waste reduction.
Amid global supply uncertainties affecting plastic materials, packaging costs have increased. Many businesses are encouraging customers to bring their own bags or containers. The city government has integrated this trend into a broader initiative promoting sustainable consumption.
The campaign runs until September 30. Customers who bring their own cups or containers to participating stores for takeaway purchases can enjoy discounts. Drinks priced at NT$40 or more receive NT$10 off, with some brands offering up to NT$15 in savings. Meals receive NT$10 off for purchases over NT$40, and NT$20 off for purchases over NT$80.
Participation is simple. Customers scan a QR code at the store and complete the required steps. By filling out a questionnaire, they can also enter a prize draw for items such as a MacBook Neo, iPad, Nintendo Switch, and AirPods.
Through small daily actions, the campaign aims to reduce single-use waste and encourage a more sustainable lifestyle in the city.
