Taiwan has entered a super-aged society. Health management for older adults and disability prevention have become growing concerns for many families in recent years. Taipei Public Library will launch its "Stay Healthy and Independent with Long-term Care Support" series in May, offering 10 free talks and interactive sessions. Topics include nutrition, management of blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol, home safety, and emotional support.
Events will be held at the Main Library and multiple branches, allowing residents to join nearby. Specialists from different fields will discuss common chronic diseases among seniors, hearing care, and fall prevention. Participants will also receive practical methods that can be applied in daily life to help maintain mobility and quality of life.
Beyond physical health, this year's program also includes caregiver stress adjustment, wills and inheritance, and advance medical decisions. These topics respond to the real needs many families face during long-term care. A board game workshop titled "Complete Life Planning" will also guide participants in discussing life planning through interactive learning.
Libraries are no longer only places for borrowing books, but also important community spaces for practical information. All sessions are free and suitable for seniors, family caregivers, and anyone interested in aging-related issues. Full schedules and registration details are available on the Taipei Public Library website.
