Do Not Bring Pork Products to Taiwan; Discard Mistakenly Carried Items to Avoid Heavy Fines
After years of effort by various government agencies, Taiwan was officially included in the World Organisation for Animal Health's (WOAH) list of countries free from African Swine Fever (ASF) in 2024. However, the global ASF situation remains severe, with 74 countries and regions still designated as affected areas. As the Lunar New Year approaches, the Immigration Agency reminds travelers visiting Taiwan for tourism or family reunions not to bring meat products into the country. Passengers are also warned not to take in-flight meals off the plane. If meat products are mistakenly brought into Taiwan, they must be discarded in designated disposal bins before customs inspection. Violators face fines of up to NT$1 million. Travelers are urged to be cautious to avoid unintentionally breaking the law and incurring substantial penalties.

These include those who overeat or binge drink, lead sedentary lifestyles, take baths after meals or alcohol consumption, experience high stress or insomnia, or have lingering colds. To reduce the risk of sudden death, adopting a healthy lifestyle is crucial. Regular exercise, balanced eating, stress management, and handling cold symptoms are all recommended. Health management during winter is critical—do not take it lightly.
