Kaohsiung City Government's Youth Bureau continues promoting the "Youth Local Exploration Program" through the "Kaohsiung Mountain & Sea Explorer" series, encouraging young people to experience local culture, industries, and communities. Four exploration tours have been completed this year, attracting 160 participants. A 90-second vertical video contest, "My Kaohsiung Local Exploration," is now accepting entries through Aug. 21, with total prize money of NT$60,000.
The completed tours covered Namasia, Mituo and Jiading, Linyuan, and Gangshan, featuring Indigenous culture, wetlands, fishing villages, onion-dyeing, archaeological sites, friendly farming, military dependents' villages, and local industries. Participants gained a deeper understanding of Kaohsiung through hands-on experiences and community interaction.

The final two tours will take place on Aug. 13 in Yongan, focusing on fishing culture and marine sustainability, and on Aug. 17 in Shanlin, featuring Hakka village walks and indigo dyeing. The Youth Bureau hopes more young people will discover Kaohsiung from new perspectives.
The contest includes two categories: "Exploration Moments" for participants of the program, and "Discover Kaohsiung" for young people aged 18–35 who live, study, or work in Kaohsiung, regardless of nationality. Entries must be public vertical videos of no more than 90 seconds uploaded to Instagram Reels and submitted according to the competition rules before Aug. 21.
