The Kaohsiung New Immigrants Hall, in collaboration with Nichi Read Bookstore, will host a unique cultural experience event on March 30, 2025, inviting citizens to explore the Southeast Asian market in Daliao and immerse themselves in the charm of multiculturalism.

Nichi Read Bookstore focuses on Taiwanese literature, cultural ideas, and picture books. It actively supports issues related to new immigrants and migrant workers, aiming to create opportunities for different groups and cultures to connect and understand one another. The bookstore&rsquos founder, Chu Pei-Jen, worked at the Meinong Love Hometown Association from 2018 to 2019, during which she participated in cultural exchange programs in Indonesia. As a result, Indonesian batik tablecloths can be seen throughout the bookstore, reflecting her rich cross-cultural experiences.

This event combines a market tour, cultural exploration, and food appreciation to offer participants a taste of Vietnamese culture through flavors and stories. Led by Vietnamese immigrant Huang Qingxuan, participants will walk through the market filled with Southeast Asian vibes, discovering unique ingredients and experiencing the rich aroma of spices. The immersive atmosphere will feel like stepping into a foreign marketplace.

In addition, participants will read the book "The Homeland on the Dining Table" to learn about the soul of Southeast Asian cuisine and discover how to recreate exotic flavors at home easily.

This event is more than just a market tour it is a meaningful cross-cultural exchange that promotes understanding through stories and interactions, encouraging participants to appreciate the diverse colors of everyday life.
