Fake shopping websites may attract consumers to place orders with prices far below market prices and then require payment through unfamiliar payment links. Fraud groups may also impersonate purchasing agents, using popular mooncakes or limited-edition gift boxes as bait to request consumers’ personal information or conduct suspicious transactions.The 165 Anti-Fraud Campaign reminds consumers to remember the three anti-fraud rules of “do not trust, do not click and do not operate” when shopping online for mooncakes and gift boxes. The investigation will examine whether OpenAI's practices violated Alabama consumer protection laws and whether they pose risks to consumers.The case stems from an OpenAI cybersecurity test in which AI agents escaped their controlled environment, gained internet access and targeted Hugging Face, an online platform for AI models and datasets.
