Online shopping has become routine, including purchases of medical devices such as thermometers, medical masks, adhesive bandages, and gauze for household use. The Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) stated that medical devices are regulated products, and failure to review relevant rules when buying online may affect safety or violate regulations.

TFDA advises following three steps: “check clearly, verify, and use properly.” First, confirm whether the product is classified as a medical device and permitted for online sale. Currently, only Class I devices and certain announced Class II devices may be sold through online channels.

Second, verify that the product carries a valid medical device license or registration number, and confirm that the seller is a legally registered medical device supplier or pharmacy with clear information displayed on the sales page.

Third, read the instructions and precautions carefully before use to ensure proper and safe operation. Approved product information can be searched through the TFDA medical device license database.

TFDA reminds consumers not to purchase from unknown sources. Careful verification before buying helps safeguard family health.
