To safeguard the health rights of new immigrants the Ministry of Health and Welfare MOHW has integrated multiple medical support measures including National Health Insurance NHI subsidies and government funded vaccination programs ensuring that foreign and Mainland spouses receive fair and accessible healthcare.
The MOHW stated that foreign or Mainland spouses holding a residence permit but not yet registered as household residents are required to join the NHI after residing in Taiwan for six months. For assistance individuals may contact the NHI service hotline at 0800 030 598 or 4128 678 for landlines or dial 02 4128 678 via mobile where multilingual support is available.
Pregnant foreign and Mainland spouses may also apply for government subsidized prenatal examinations ensuring continuity of maternal care. New immigrants without household registration who are classified as low income households may receive full NHI premium subsidies while middle low income households are eligible for partial subsidies.
The MOHW added that foreign residents and Mainland spouses may receive government funded vaccines including influenza and MMR to reduce infection risks and strengthen public health protection.
The ministry emphasized that new immigrants are an integral part of Taiwanese society and the government will continue advancing equal healthcare access and health promotion to ensure that every new immigrant can afford medical care access physicians and enjoy a healthy life.
